The Octopus Project on TV!

The Octopus Project make their live national television debut at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (6:00 pm Pacific) this Thursday, March 1st, on FUEL TV's "The Daily Habit," a daily program mixing pop culture with action sports personalities, cutting-edge music, product reviews and comedy.

The Octopus Project will be performing "Music Is Happiness" and "Tuxedo Hat," and the show will be telecast three additional times after its initial broadcast.

FUEL TV is a 24/7 action sports lifestyle network for skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle-motocross, and wakeboarding. Check your local cable listings for channel info.

Peek-A-Boo Records SXSW 2007 Events

Peek-A-Boo Records has teamed up with Chicago's Graveface Records this year for a variety of SXSW shows. In addition to our official SXSW showcase on Wednesday, we're throwing a day party on Friday at Bella Blue Boutique, next door to End of an Ear Records on South First Street. It's free, all-ages and open to the public, so please stop by, have a beer and enjoy the music.

The Octopus Project launches tour, records new album

The Octopus Project departs next week for 10 dates up the West Coast, plus one stop in Tijuana, Mexico. The brief tour ends in Seattle, where the band will remain for three weeks to record its third album with famed producer Ryan Hadlock (Blonde Redhead, Stephen Malkmus, The Gossip) at his Bear Creek Studio, built in an old barn outside of Seattle. In addition to birthing various '90s grunge records (Soundgarden, etc.), Bear Creek was also the studio used by Lionel Richie to record some of his Dancing on the Ceiling LP — a fact that pretty much sealed the deal for The Octopus Project, who claim to be headed in a distinctly Soundgarden/Lionel Richie direction.

When the recording wraps, the band will rush back to Austin for several SXSW appearances, including one joint performance with Black Moth Super Rainbow. The two bands recorded the collaborative album The House of Apples & Eyeballs last year for Chicago label Graveface Records.

In April, The Octopus Project makes its first trip overseas to play the Spring Scream Festival on the beach in Kenting, Taiwan. As previously reported, Taiwan label White Wabbit Records licensed One Ten Hundred Thousand Million for release in Taiwan & Hong Kong several months ago.

The Octopus Project has tentative plans to tour Europe in May/June. Dates will be posted as they are confirmed.
