The Octopus Project sweeps the Austin Music Awards

The Octopus Project on The Austin ChronicleThe Octopus Project graced the cover of the Austin Chronicle the week of SXSW after sweeping the annual Austin Music Awards. The band took home four awards, including Best Experimental Band, Best Indie Band, Best Instrumental Band and Best Miscellaneous Instrument Player (Yvonne Lambert, theremin) and placed in the top ten in twelve different categories (Best Rock Band, Band of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year & more).

Best Concert Poster: The Octopus Project, Starlight Mints, Black Lipstick by Michael Budai, Dec. 31, Emo'sAdditionally, Peek-A-Boo Records was named the #3 Best Local Label, and an Octopus Project/Black Lipstick poster by Pittsburghian Michael Budai won an award for Best Concert Poster. Pete Townshend performed at the awards ceremony with former Faces pianist/organist Ian McLagan in a tribute to their departed friend, Faces bassist Ronnie Lane.
