Super XX Man on NPR's All Songs Considered

Super XX Man - XSuper XX Man was honored this week by NPR's esteemed show All Songs Considered. Host Bob Boilen talks about Super XX Man's new record along with the new Belle & Sebastian and Neko Case albums.

Super XX Man, aka Scott Garred from Silver Scooter, is celebrating his tenth year of recording music with the release of this tenth record, a new album appropriately titled X on Portland's Hush Records.

Since leaving Austin in 2001, Scott relocated to Portland and currently works as a music therapist at the maximum security wing of the Oregon State Hospital (as seen in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest).

The new album features 11 older songs selected from Super XX Man's large back catalog reworked and re-recorded by Scott and the five-piece band he assembled in Portland. The band also includes Scott's wife Michelle, "the Polka Queen of NE Portland" on accordian.

Super XX Man will perform in Austin in March at SXSW and at the Peek-A-Boo Records SXSW Day Party.
